The Center for Tropical Research has posted its Fall 2011 newsletter on the News and Updates page of its website. The biannual CTR newsletter contains feature articles by CTR researchers, field reports from graduate students, a letter from CTR Director Thomas Smith, and updates on CTR projects, field research trips, graduate student and postdoctoral scholar activities, and donor and grant support.
The November 2011 feature article by Kristen Ruegg describes a study to connect the wintering and breeding sites of migratory songbirds using new genetic and Isotopic methods. The field report by Stephanie Steele reports on the ecological and genetic role of seed dispersal for a tropical tree in Ecuador.
Tom Smith’s Letter from the Director describes new developments at the International Research and Training Center in Yaoundé, Cameroon and the recent tour of a delegation from UCLA and the University of Oregon to explore opportunities for research collaborations with faculty and students at the University of Yaoundé and the University of Buea.
