  • The IoES received a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Shapiro in honor of IoES Advisory Board Chair Tony Pritzker and his wife Jeanne Pritzker.
  • IoES co-hosted a Phi Beta Kappa Lecture Series event featuring Tesla Motors founder and owner Elon Musk on January 8, 2011 at the Fowler Museum.
  • The La Kretz Center for California Conservation Science will host a workshop for the Southern California Landscape Conservation Cooperative (CA LCC) on January 26, 2011 at the UCLA Faculty Center. The CA LCC is a management-science partnership informing and promoting integrated science, natural resource management and conservation to address impacts of climate change and other stressors within and across ecosystems.   • CODA Automotive and Deloitte & Touche are the newest members of the IoES Corporate Partners Program. Headquartered in nearby Santa Monica, CODA designs and manufactures all-electric, zero emission vehicles. Deloitte has firms throughout the world that collaborate to provide audit, consulting, financial advisory, risk management and tax services. The IoES Corporate Partners Program is a partnership between UCLA and companies to foster green innovation.
  • The Glickfeld Scholarship has been established to aid undergraduate students.  The scholarship was made possible through a gift from IoES Assistant Director of Outreach and Strategic Initiatives Madelyn Glickfeld and her husband Bruce.   • Newly elected California Governor Jerry Brown has reappointed former Institute Director Mary Nichols as Chair of the California Air Resources Board. Nichols will continue to spearhead California’s air quality efforts in a role she has occupied since 2007.
  • The IoES Center for Climate Change Solutions (CCCS) will host the UCLA Climate Academy Business Leaders Course, Sunday, April 03, 2011 at the UCLA Collins Center for Executive Education. This inaugural course will be a two-day conference and workshop for senior executives who recognize the need to address the regulatory and market shifts brought on by climate change.
